Artist's Description
When the family farm was sold this year to complete strangers, I photographed a few images for keepsakes. This is the door to my bedroom of the home, built in the 1840's. The door was built of pine boards adorned with a white porcelain door knob and keyhole. The key to the door was never found. I can still feel my hand opening that door to my slant walled room with an awesome 2nd floor view of farm fields, barns, animals and glorious secret forests. Behind this door, books were read by flashlight under eiderdown covers, gentle muffled voices of parents were heard below and overhead the occasional scurrying of mice rolling hickory nuts in the attic. In all its primitive glory it was the most beautiful door leading to my own little secret place. Thank you for viewing. Barbara McMahon
