I drove by this field in Haldimand County, Ontario almost everyday for 30 years while going to work in the big city. Just a field. Sometimes it produced hay, corn, oats or wheat. One day I cycled past it and then I noticed how incredibly beautiful it was in every way. The open expanse of wheat was being caressed by the wind against an expanse of clear blue skies. A couple of days later, I took my camera with me but I was too late. The wheat had been combined. The grain and straw taken away by the farmer and all that was left was the stubble. Then I saw how breathtaking this field was with or without its crop. This image is about 10 years old now and occasionally I go for a drive to visit this place. It's still the same. Rotating crops that are guarded by the lone tree, the Overseer of the Harvest.
