Description
This little piece of cafe/music art was inspired by my own childhood memories of learning the accordian minus the cappucinno. The accordian was wildly popular when I was a young girl and being of European parents I was destined for lessons. Although the accordian was almost as big as I was, I took lessons from age 6 - 9 years. Long enough to learn to read music which later led to mastering the piano as an adult. I was no Walter Ostenak by any means but did have my 10 minute claim to fame on a local television show. I was 7 years old, wearing my communion dress (definitely needed to be worn more than once) and played Cuckoo Polka. I stopped playing the accordian around 11. One long cold winter, in my 5th decade of life I pulled out my old instrument. The leather straps disintegrated in my hands so I improvised by attaching straps from a duffle bag. I picked up the instrument and to my absolute surprise..............Cuckoo Polka flew out of my fingers!!! An important lesson in how valuable those early music lessons can be. Thank you for viewing. Wow! Thank you Piotr! At last, someone noticed my accordian!!!! It's an instrument that has withstood time and continuously reinvents itself. Thank you! Now, I think I'll go play.
