Description
If one looks carefully you will see a trail marker for the Bruce Trail. This Iroquoia Section is located in Ancaster, Ontario.
The Bruce Trail follows the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, one of the thirteen UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves in Canada, for almost 900 km (560 mi). The land the trail traverses is owned by the Government of Ontario, private landowners and the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC).
The name of the trail is linked to the Bruce Peninsula and Bruce County, which the trail runs through. The trail is named after the county, which was named after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin who was Governor General of the Province of Canada from 1847 to 1854.
I would encourage people from all over the world that enjoy hiking to visit the Bruce Trail. The diversity of geography from flat to rugged is amazing. For me, the highlight is the end of the trail in Tobermory, Ontario. The last section of trail follows the rugged coastline of Georgian Bay with spectacular overlooks, rare orchids, bears and the occasional Massasauga rattler (very rarely seen).

What a spectacular winter shot! Hiking would be an adventure.
Barbara McMahon replied:
Thank you Louise for your lovely comment! This is a trail that I often hike but yesterday the snow was mid-thigh. The cross country skiers also enjoy these trails and I'm sure they'll have it packed down by the weekend.
