Description
A severe storm system rolled through our area this evening causing fallen trees, heavy downpours and power outages. I found my emergency candles, flashlight, etc. and settled down to a quiet evening. I fondly remembered a power outage that occurred while staying at a friend's cottage all alone. My friend had a wonderful collection of candles and when I lit them the glow of the dripping wax was quite a beautiful sight. The call of loons and quiet candlelight was a memorable evening. Sometimes it takes a thunderstorm to quiet us, cause us to reflect and to find peace.

It makes me think of Sense and Sensibility for some reason. Very cool!

Thank you Leslie! I'm sure that on the wall there is a row of bells that one would ring for service!

Thank you Geraldine for your beautiful comment. Indeed a lovely memory. The cottage is gone but the memories will last.
