Sometimes it seems like a monumental effort to drag one's self out into the cold and damp to take in a little exercise. I've hiked this beautiful trail many times and always it is a lovely scenic footpath, but never have I seen it have this particular glow amidst the gloomy atmosphere of a foggy day. I've entitled this work "Leaf Light" due to the glow that the leaves provided, despite lack of sunshine. The forest is primarily deciduous trees in a conservation area. One expects to see fallen leaves, bare branches in the autumn but when combined with fog, it has a mysterious charm, that invites one to continue further. I was mesmerized by the atmosphere, the cool damp air, the quiet. Enough so to pause and take a photo of this beckoning trail on an early misty morning. I even come back to gaze at the photograph periodically to relive that moment in time when all seemed gentle and all encompassing with the beauty that nature has to offer, even on a foggy day. I hope you enjoy viewing i...

I still keep loving this, lol! Love how beautifully lit the leaves are , flowing down and through the scene of mysterious shadowy trail, would love to be there exploring.
Barbara McMahon replied:
Thank you so much Diana! This trail is part of a large conservation area with many trails, lots of hills and forests, waterfalls and wildlife. It is only 5 minutes from home and I try to go several times a week. It's beautiful in the winter too but can get quite icy.

Hi Barbara, sometimes it is a haul just to get outside to put one foot in front of another....but when you find images like this ....it's all worth it. Wonderful job.
Barbara McMahon replied:
Hi Skip, Thank you so much. When someone else "gets" what I was trying to capture it is so rewarding. Technically it could be so much better but there is only so much one can do with 6 meg. This scene inspired me enough to paint a canvas, by the same name. Thank you again.
Bob Christopher

This is truly an exquisite photo. I love that there is the tiniest bit of bright spring green showing still up in one of the trees, as if to remind us that Spring will come again and to simply surrender ourselves to enjoying the beauty of Fall. The POV is wonderful too...with the bit of fog and the mystery of what lies just over the hill. Would love to know more about any processing you did to enhance this already beautiful photo! v/f
Barbara McMahon replied:
Thank you Rory for such a generous and poetic compliment! This photo is unprocessed and I believe uncropped also. Thank you for your support.
Joan Carroll
lovely scene! and wonderful processing to bring out the beauty. V
Barbara McMahon replied:
Joan, Thank you very much. This image is as shot with no processing. That's one of the reasons it was especially beautiful to me. Most of my images, other than cropping are unprocessed.
