On September 13, 2015, George, my dear brother suddenly passed away. He loved this painting of himself as he enjoyed remaining a man of some "mystery". He also enjoyed reading viewer's comments and although he was a modest man, found it rather amusing to be on the "internet". Thank you to all who have commented. Each comment made him smile. George, you will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved you.
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.
Who is George? Beneath that face that gives nothing away, George Widomski is a soft spoken country gentleman, of Polish heritage, that is always willing to lend an ear and remain non-judgemental. From viewing this watercolour portrait, my hope is that George's personality is visible. Although looking somewhat stern, his face is "open" to seeing, hearing and feeling all that is happening in his world. George is definitely looking right at you and sometimes even through you!
On a personal note, George is a softy, with a sharp mind and teddy bear appearance. Who is George? George.....is my brother! Thank you for viewing. Barbara McMahon
